Yay. <i>*blows party horn*</i></span><span style="font-family: "Arial", "Helvetica", sans-serif;"><br />Whenever me and <b>Nadia</b> had the chance to hang out at a coffee joint, I'd bring along my Galaxy Tab. We'd sip our coffee, surfing and youtubing away with the free WiFi.<br /><br />Today, out of boredom, she decided to mess around with Autodesk SBMX and came up with this doodle. "Coffee Doodle", she called it. I managed to snap a picture (with Android's Retro Camera, so there's not much Photoshopping involved aside from the watermark) of her progress and I decided to upload it here.</span><br />

We've finalized the script and started on principal photography a few months back. Now, we're starting on the rough design for Fishboy. Joe's done a few <a href="http://cgxpress.blogspot.com/2011/07/fishboy-progress-tracking-etc.html">tracking tests</a> which looks pretty good. I tried out a few really quick proportion tests using ZSpheres. Some of them, admittedly look awkward and unbalanced but it doesn't hurt to try it out a bit just for comparison. In the end, we agreed on a more hunching, slender character. It gives Fishboy a more gawky, approachable look. Didn't want to make him seem threatening and violent. Now I'm kind of looking forward to start on the costume and prop design. Especially the head gear. I have a thing for head gears. </p>Nadia Mahmudhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03508667041441282933noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7958288955028655993.post-69663827589844215842011-07-22T17:59:00.006+08:002011-07-22T18:40:31.435+08:00Fishy fishy fishy fishy...<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgasbUrlx9wWMfmyBt-nkGzGfsk8DvtST2tTVghb3IHuXr7GJgf67Fi26EKH5Ypdlc61ve_4XY1oYw0Gui3goP4l7FACrO2qLuV3NOyk-qORjtof7VDhAUQcsbwUfYMVpcCuihyhxGAbZs/s1600/fishboy_senimitos.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 226px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgasbUrlx9wWMfmyBt-nkGzGfsk8DvtST2tTVghb3IHuXr7GJgf67Fi26EKH5Ypdlc61ve_4XY1oYw0Gui3goP4l7FACrO2qLuV3NOyk-qORjtof7VDhAUQcsbwUfYMVpcCuihyhxGAbZs/s320/fishboy_senimitos.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5632114787462758418" /></a><span style="font-family:arial;">This is the body concept (one of many hopefully) for the <b><u>Fishboy Project</u></b> <b><a href="http://jee-joh.blogspot.com/" target="new">Joe</a></b>, <b>Nadia</b> and I are currently working on. The first concept was done in a span of a day with Paint Tool Sai.<br /><br />Preliminary discussions for this project go way back to earlier this year when we were brainstorming on ideas and characters and whatnot. Scripts were drafted, scrapped and green-lit and it all lead to this fishy-looking character (currently named <b>Fishboy</b>).<br /><br />I am/was (supposedly) the character's arms/legs/hands/feet developer but even with those individual parts drawn seperately, you'll never know how they'd look like merged all together. So I decided to sketch out the first concept (based on <b><a href="http://jee-joh.blogspot.com/" target="new">Joe</a></b>'s fishheads mesh and <b>Nadia</b>'s 3D mockup) and yea, this thing came out.<br /><br />I thought I was happy with the "wet-look" feel of the face but no... not wet enough I guess. My main concern remains on the body as I was aiming for a long but hunched torso. The hands and feet are still up for development because I'm not really happy with the inconsistency of the both of them (the feet looks like a complete rip-off of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle).<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtf_q4BtOCFxSpF2hXYoI5WIHP9EkNJ0VWnKcrq-xllsqEj2CVwFoVK0uSG1sYez92UeCmPLdHBVlHSU2qJ0PWKm2uMhNT-AuKzax41OJBFa6qGjhx251DwpAM0sFcSMrljjWn4XcZwPE/s1600/fishboy_progress01.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 190px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtf_q4BtOCFxSpF2hXYoI5WIHP9EkNJ0VWnKcrq-xllsqEj2CVwFoVK0uSG1sYez92UeCmPLdHBVlHSU2qJ0PWKm2uMhNT-AuKzax41OJBFa6qGjhx251DwpAM0sFcSMrljjWn4XcZwPE/s320/fishboy_progress01.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5632120183729251234" /></a>Here's another non-descriptive diagram on the progress I managed to save </span><em><span style="font-family:arial;">(hope you can figure out what's happening in that picture :P)</span></em><span style="font-family:arial;">. It all started from the top left when I referred to <b>Nadia</b>'s 3D mockup. All I need to do from there is to basically sketch it over. Design of the head was a mashed-up version from <b><a href="http://jee-joh.blogspot.com/" target="new">Joe</a></b>'s collection of fish heads (which you can check out <a href="http://jee-joh.blogspot.com/2011/07/fishboy-head-concepts.html" target="new"><b>here</b></a>). An English mafia/gangster me and <strong>Idris</strong> sorta came up with when we were brainstorming for......... I don't quite remember what. But my current backpain/low motivation pulled me back (a bit).<br /><br />Back to Nigel, it was a quick doodle with Sai. I'm not too happy with the face (lack character) and the length of the leg (too anime). The overall pose could've been better. But it's a great start with this bloke because I think this can go somewhere. Will definitely revisit the design in the near future.<br /></span></p>Azman ZGhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02976704596224648519noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7958288955028655993.post-59477963419762295662010-12-23T23:42:00.004+08:002010-12-25T01:34:50.210+08:00Snail Boy Formerly Known as Four Legs<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZM1FsXpT0PLQnMBkQXHlPffj-0KPLiV-P661Z2qnWpIhVAUAuNAF8m-xZPiRRjV_QCsxKpgxm32loPFNSN2Ai-Ukp1Ze9tsAY2_zLbsWNfRQbG6r34bASoQ459t6qRJdsmlRmSb_QcGg/s1600/Snail+Boy.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 144px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZM1FsXpT0PLQnMBkQXHlPffj-0KPLiV-P661Z2qnWpIhVAUAuNAF8m-xZPiRRjV_QCsxKpgxm32loPFNSN2Ai-Ukp1Ze9tsAY2_zLbsWNfRQbG6r34bASoQ459t6qRJdsmlRmSb_QcGg/s320/Snail+Boy.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5553907875295206322" /></a>So Mr Four Legs evolved to Snail Boy here which I gave to my students to play around with for their texturing assignment. Decided not to detail the hell out of it as it'll defeat the whole purpose of learning good texturing for them. Although, I am entertaining the idea of fleshing out more of his details for my own personal fun. Anyways, in my own little head, Snail Boy here is supposedly the missile man (he uses a slignshot) for the Seelie Court's army. Initially he was meant to be the mean, ridiculously mobile infantry of the Unseelie Court but somehow he ended up looking more gentler and softer than I planned. Heh. <span style="font-family:arial;"><span style="font-size:100%;"><br /></span></span><p>*To the clueless, The Seelie and The Unseelie are basically Scottish classification of fairies :P<span style="font-size:85%;"><br /></span></p>Nadia Mahmudhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03508667041441282933noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7958288955028655993.post-78156042626775115082010-12-13T21:58:00.009+08:002010-12-25T01:35:29.799+08:00WIP- Four Legs (roughly 30 mins)<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHsys5buh4fc6Ex8rptSOVDxhORqKwk9r1SV6TFOCfZrRyyQCGrhGr1dzuHuiUnFxk-4WvkMrFnBIWXozf4J9h36X4BefF-a_VxiBlnL1lITTszJDLgO4p57fPor3I1JXS_aji-VNnAmE/s1600/04.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 194px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHsys5buh4fc6Ex8rptSOVDxhORqKwk9r1SV6TFOCfZrRyyQCGrhGr1dzuHuiUnFxk-4WvkMrFnBIWXozf4J9h36X4BefF-a_VxiBlnL1lITTszJDLgO4p57fPor3I1JXS_aji-VNnAmE/s400/04.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5550175475778638914" /></a><span style="font-family:arial;"><span style="font-size:100%;">I've been a very naughty girl.
